All of our designs go through rigorous testing to ensure that they can meet the demands of travel.
Cobblestone roads and other uneven surfaces will rattle a lesser chair to bits, so we’ve designed an accelerated fatigue test (this is the most punishing test) to ensure continued performance even under the most extreme conditions. This test, nicknamed the “bumpy road”, runs for over 100 hours under full load. Even after such a brutal test, your travel chair will roll straight and smooth.
Another source of wear and tear occurs when travel chairs are dropped and banged around repeatedly. The Troy Technologies drop test certifies the chair’s structural integrity under harsh travel conditions (to pass this test, a chair needs to survive being dropped over 6000 times). This test follows the guidelines of The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), Volume 1 / Section 8. It involves lifting a fully loaded wheelchair 4 cm. off the ground and dropping it in a repetitive cycle.
